2023 Inaugural Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Program with California State University Chico (CSUC)
Held from November 9 to November 30, 2023, this COIL initiative laid the groundwork for future collaborations between our Faculty of Agriculture and California State University Chico (CSUC). Fourteen students, including eight from our, participated in the program themed "Local Food in Shinshu and California."
Utilizing the "ArcGIS" platform, students went beyond traditional Zoom interactions to share photos and geographic information, enhancing their understanding of local cuisines. Final presentations highlighted the prices, cooking methods, and typical dishes of local foods, exploring cultural similarities and differences.
Reflecting on the experience, students expressed enjoyment in communicating with American peers and delving into each other's cultures. Future plans include expanding exchanges and exploring a short-term training program, allowing students to travel between campuses for deeper connections and cultural understanding.
This successful collaboration reinforces our commitment to global perspectives and transformative educational experiences. We extend gratitude to CSUC for their partnership. Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming global initiatives!
