2024 Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program with Faculty of Animal Science, University of Brawijaya (Indonesia)
For the fourth consecutive year, we are thrilled to celebrate the success of the COIL program between our Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Animal Science at the University of Brawijaya, Indonesia. Running from April 22 to June 3, 2024, this program underscores our commitment to global collaboration and cross-cultural education.
Forty-three students participated, including 14 from our faculty. Under the theme "Asian Food Culture: A Focus on Meat and Meat Products," participants were divided into eight groups for collaborative learning and cultural exchange.
The program featured on-demand lectures on food culture in the Philippines and Jordan, along with engaging Q&A sessions with guest lecturers from these regions. Students developed skills in information gathering, discussion, presentation, and teamwork. The final presentations offered comparative analyses of meat and meat products in Japan and Indonesia, culminating in a series of insightful group presentations.
Student feedback has been very positive. Despite language barriers, students enjoyed learning about new cultures, improving their English, making new friends, and successfully communicating their ideas. Here are some of their comments:
- "It was fascinating to learn about a culture I wasn't familiar with."
- "I enjoyed learning about Indonesian food culture and working in groups. I plan to practice my English more and participate in more international events."
- "The program helped me improve my English skills through discussions and presentations."
This successful collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering global perspectives and providing transformative educational experiences. We extend our gratitude to the University of Brawijaya for their partnership.
We look forward to future collaborations that will continue to enrich our students' educational journeys. Stay tuned for more updates on our global initiatives!
