Shinshu University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in the field of Natural Product Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, at Shinshu University Faculty of Agriculture.

I. Job Description
1. Number of Positions: one Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
2. Work place: Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University, 8304 Minamiminowa-Village, Kamiina-County, Nagano

3. Employment and Benefits: Five year tenure-track appointment starting on the date of the appointment. The salary will depend on the experiences as stipulated in the regulations of Shinshu University. Health insurance, mutual pension, employment insurance, and occupational injury insurance will be available.
4. Research field: Natural Product Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry
Namely, isolation and identification of bioactive compounds from natural resources using analytical equipment.
5. Qualifications: Applicants should have
 (1) a doctoral degree or expecting to receive a doctoral degree by starting date of the job.
 (2) Much knowledge in the field of Natural Product Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry to contribute to education and the human resource development of the field.
 (3) Maintenance of NMR, ESI-TOFMS, LC-MS and so on at Ina branch of the Research Center for Supports to Advanced Science, Shinshu University.
 (4) Excellent research record in the field described above and Ability to contribute to enhancement, the development of the study of the field described above.
 (5) Ability to contributed to the area's development by using knowledge in the field described above.
 (6) Ability to write a successful grant application and to carry out social and international academic activities.
6. Job Responsibility:
 (1) Research and research supervision: You will develop distinctive natural product chemistry and analytical chemistry research aiming at searching bioactive compounds from plants and basidiomycetes etc. (e.g., research on search for compounds with unique characteristics, significant biological activities etc.), and it is expected that your research will incorporate advanced technologies such as instrumental analysis, bioinformatics analysis, and AI.
 (2) Teaching of undergraduate and graduate level courses broadly related to the research field. Subjects will include;
 ?Undergraduate course (Division of Life and Food Science)
 Organic Chemistry I, Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Basic Experiments in Chemistry, Laboratory in Organic and Analytical Chemistry, Thesis Research I-III, etc.
 ?Graduate course (Master's Course: Food Science and Biotechnology division)
 Advanced Lecture in Analytical Food Chemistry, Advanced Lecture in Food Functional Analysis, Advanced Lecture in Applied Science of Food Resources, Advanced Seminar for Food Science and Technology, Advanced Experimental Course on Food Science and Biotechnology, etc.
 (3) Administrative and service works
7. Tenure Evaluation: In the final year of appointment, the researcher's achievements in research, teaching and administrative responsibility during the period will be evaluated. On passing the evaluation, the employment will become tenured appointment starting April 1, 2030. The details of the evaluation will be explained at the time of interview.
8. Selection Procedure: The selection will be made based on the application materials and personal interview. Japanese language skill is not a prerequisite for the selection, but will be required for tenure appointment.
