Summary of Activity

Pathology, an unfamiliar research field, clarifies the disease process to death. Pathologists observe the tissue specimens sampled from the lesion of patients, give the diagnosis and further make final diagnosis after autopsy examination. They contribute to the advanced medicine through conferences with clinicians. Pathology, research of etiopathogenesis of diseases, makes the bases of pathologic diagnosis. In our department, we can devote in advanced biomedical research with the pride of physician engaged in patient care.

Research Subject

  • ?Collagen disease, vasculitis, glomerulonephritis:
Contribution of innate immunity activated by various microorganisms
  • ?Epstein-Barr virus-related diseases:
Diseases caused by ubiquitous virus in human beings in specific conditions

Outlook for Research

  • ? Prevention and treatment of intractable diseases caused via immune mechanisms
  • ? Lower frequency of complications caused with immune suppression in patients receiving advanced medical care
