Shinshu University School of Medicine held the 4th International Seminar with University of California, Davis Health, School of Medicine (UC Davis), our partner university from 2018, on March 17, 2021.
Prof. Aiming Yu (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine), a specialist of microRNA and novel therapies targeting RNA, talked about "Regulatory microRNAs: Mechanisms and methodologies". Prof. TANAKA Naoki served as the moderator of this memorable first on-line communication with UC Davis. More than 40 participants of medical undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and professors, including Prof. HIRATSUKA Sachie (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), Prof. SHIBA Yuji (Department of Regenerative Science and Medicine), Prof. HIGUCHI Keiichi (Department of Aging Biology), and Prof. OKUMURA Nobuo (Department of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences), were introduced to Prof. Yu's research and discussed actively with him.
This is the first section of three serial lectures and the next lecture will be scheduled in May or June 2021. Both institutions closed this successful seminar, promising further collaborations in the future. Shinshu University School of Medicine intends to implement this approach with UC Davis and other partner universities and offer our students and doctors opportunities to learn cutting-edge knowledge of biomedical research and clinical medicine.
