The 10th International Seminar: Lecture by Mr. Yusuke Nakagawa of the Japanese Medical Society of America (JMSA) was held.
22.04.18
At Shinshu University School of Medicine, there are students who want to work as doctors in the United States in the future. On the other hand, there are very few opportunities for these students to receive advice from the same perspective on how to prepare while they are in school and what kind of career to follow. In order to support such students, we held lecture by Mr. Yusuke Nakagawa (Japanese Medical Society of America, JMSA) on March 23, 2022, entitled "The Story of a Student Who Aimed for American Medical Care", as the 10th International Seminar. This lecture was realized with the introduction of Mr. Akihiko Oishi (New York Medical College), representative of JMSA medical students.
Mr. Nakagawa aspired to become a doctor after one year of engaging in the Great East Japan Earthquake relief activities in the disaster-stricken areas and entered Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, after graduating from the Faculty of Engineering. He has been working as a surgical resident since April 2022. In this lecture, Mr. Nakagawa talked about life at the U.S. School of Medicine, how to study the USMLE, and what it takes to work as a doctor in the United States in an easy-to-understand manner. After that, Mr. Nakagawa carefully answered questions from the participating students. The participants were deeply impressed by his speech.
We will continue to support students who are trying to fly to the world through such projects.
