The 14th International Seminar: "The urobiome: microbes and their impact on urinary tract function" by Dr. Anne Lenore Ackerman, UCLA Medical Center
23.02.28
Dr. Anne Lenore Ackerman is a world's leading urologist in the urobiome research. Professor ISHIZUKA Osamu, who hosted the 87th Annual Meeting of the Eastern Section of Japanese Urological Association, invited Dr. Ackerman to Shinshu University as part of an exchange program with the American Urological Association, and this seminar was realized.
Professor ISHIZUKA served as the moderator and Dr. Ackerman gave a lecture on the relationship between bladder diseases such as overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis and the intravesical microbiota, and the differential diagnosis of pelvic pain by machine learning. She also talked extensively about her career as a female urologist, the integration of work and life, and medical education in the United States.
This seminar was conducted in hybrid style, in-person and online. More than 20 medical students, graduate students, and doctors attended the lecture, and many questions were posed by doctors in the department of urology and Professor Emeritus NISHIZAWA Osamu. After the lecture, medical students visited Dr. Ackerman and were able to talk about valuable things other than research.
We will continue to provide opportunities to learn the world's cutting-edge research and expand the basic knowledge of research at Shinshu University School of Medicine.
