A delegation from Hebei Medical University visited Shinshu University School of Medicine

Hebei Medical University (HMU) and Shinshu University (SU) School of Medicine has been reinforcing an international partnership since the establishment of an inter-institutional academic agreement in 1986. More than one hundred HMU graduates have obtained higher degrees from SU Graduate School. Satellite offices were opened at HMU in 2019 and at SU School of Medicine in 2021.

On May 24, 2023, a delegation from HMU paid a courtesy visit to Prof. OKUYAMA Ryuhei, Dean of SU School of Medicine. The visiting delegation consisted of five professors, Prof. Ni Tiejun, Prof. Zhang Ruili, Prof. Zhang Qi, Prof. Li Zengning, and Prof. Zhao Chen were introduced to Prof. KURITA Hiroshi (Department of Dentistry & Oral Surgery) and Prof. TANAKA Naoki (Department of Global Medical Research Promotion), and Prof. TANAKA, also the director of the International Relations Office, talked about the history of student exchanges and current research activities. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Ni, the representative of the visiting delegation, gave Prof. OKUYAMA a tapestry as a memorable gift which were beautifully signed by HMU doctors who graduated from SU Graduate School. All the participants were deeply impressed by the feelings of the graduates who returned to HMU and thought of SU School of Medicine.

The visiting delegation proceeded to a courtesy visit to Prof. HANAOKA Masayuki, Director of Shinshu University Hospital, and then toured the laboratories in the School of Medicine. The members were invited to listen to a research report by Dr. Yue Fengming (Department of Histology and Embryology) and ended their visit after the meeting with six graduate students from HMU.

This courtesy visit added a new page to the history of collaboration between the two schools. We would like to continue to accept graduate students from HMU and accelerate joint research.
