Through the SPRING Program, the university supports 45 doctoral students annually, and through the BOOST Program, it provides support for an additional 5 students each year. These programs encourage students to pursue doctoral studies and create an environment where they can dedicate themselves fully to their research.

Next Generation Advanced Human Resources/Regional Innovators Development Program
JST SPRING: Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation program)

Program Objectives

  • To help doctoral program students pursue free, challenging, and cross-discipline research that goes beyond traditional boundaries
  • To provide an environment in which students can focus on research by providing research incentives
  • To prepare talented doctoral program students so they can flourish through a diverse array of career paths

Key Features:

●Financial Support:
  • Research Encouragement Funds: Students receive an annual stipend of ¥2,400,000 (¥200,000 per month) to cover living expenses, ensuring they can focus on their academic pursuits without financial stress.
  • Research Grants: An additional ¥300,000 per year is allocated for independent and exploratory research projects, encouraging creativity and innovation.

Doctoral students establish the "Shinshu Tamon Juku" as a platform to refine their aspirations towards societal and academic transformations through research activities. Fueled by creative interdisciplinary exchanges, they engage with outstanding overseas researchers and pioneer entrepreneurs, fostering individuals with high academic expertise who can boldly tackle challenges and take action to solve them.

  • To provide an environment in which students can focus on research by providing research incentives
  • Cultivating talent to become leading scientists in the next-generation AI field, which is a strategic area for our country. Aim to foster innovation and enhance industrial competitiveness in our country.

We aim to foster doctoral candidates who will lead the next generation of AI by implementing cross-disciplinary guidance provided by a diverse team with various expertise, offering special lectures in the field of next-generation AI, coordinating the utilization of the university's data assets, and enabling participation in career development and educational content in SPRING, thus expanding career paths and student interactions.

Shinshu Tamon Juku: Fostering Innovation Through Interdisciplinary Exchange Among Doctoral Students.

The program will establish the Shinshu Tamon Juku, which will help students refine their commitment to social and academic reform and put into practice the mission they have discovered for themselves while focusing on research activities that deepen academic specialization. Drawing on energy derived from creative exchanges between students from different fields, the School will involve talented researchers and entrepreneurs in an effort to convert new value for the society of the future and plan its realization. The School will pursue a Regional Implementation Project through which students will refine their dedication to value realization in an effort to create and implement problem-solving research that brings together different fields. The School will also offer intensive English education in order to foster an outlook that makes use of differences along with academic ability through international activities.
