In the THE Ranking, Shinshu University was placed in the 201-300 group overall in the world and came 9th in Japan. The “THE University Impact Ranking 2020” aims to improve the social contributions of universities in the areas of environmental protection, human rights, health and welfare. Each university was evaluated by combining a score for Goal 17 “Partnerships for the goals” with the three best scores for the other goals. Shinshu University received its highest score for Goal 15 “Life on Land”, coming 55th in the world and 1st in Japan. This recognition follows on the University’s showing in the 2019 UI Green Metric World University Rankings, in which we were placed 1st in Japan and 33rd in the world. The UI Green Metric World University Rankings, which evaluate the achievements of universities worldwide in their efforts to create environmentally sustainable campuses, started in 2010. The indicators used are related to 9 of the 17 SDGs. Shinshu University’s results in both of these rankings are a re?ection of our basic management policies, which we refer to as the 3“G”s (Green, Global, and Gentle) and the 3 “L”s (Local, Literacy, and Linkage). We will continue to do our utmost to contribute to society through education, research and all of our other activities.
