Collected plant resources such as buckwheat, chili pepper and so on, including their wild relatives are being investigated in a phylogenetic study and evaluated as breeding materials.Breeding research using the latest methods of biotechnology is a major research effort. For example, interspecific hybridization using embryo/ovule culture, expression analysis of specific gene and development of DNA markers linked with desired genes for marker assisted selection are being advanced in buckwheat and chili pepper.
