Chemistry

Introduction movie

What do you learn in the Chemistry course? This video introduces the features of the Chemistry course in the Department of Science.

Overview

Chemistry is the study of substances. Chemistry, which creates new substances, measures them correctly, and unravels phenomena at the molecular level, has the power to make our lives richer and more convenient, and to enable us to live in better harmony with the global environment.

With the motto of “Chemistry with solid thinking and fun experiments,” the chemistry course at Shinshu University aims to educate students to learn chemistry from the basics and to understand it correctly through experiments.

Education

In the chemistry course, education is conducted with an emphasis on the fundamentals of chemistry while keeping in mind the training of individuals who can deal with new problems.

?In the first three years, students learn basic laboratory techniques and take a wide variety of specialized courses to acquire a broad basic knowledge of chemistry.

?Fourth-year students are assigned to a laboratory where they conduct cutting-edge research in chemistry while engaging in friendly competition with graduate students and classmates. Here, students learn research techniques to identify problems and solve them independently.

Research

The Chemistry course has four fields: Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry, and each faculty member conducts distinctive research.

Student voice

"The small class size, close proximity to the teacher, and the ability to make friends quickly make it a fun environment to learn chemistry in a friendly environment with friends."

"Learning chemistry can be challenging at times, but when you find your own answers as you study, it's as interesting as when you solve a puzzle."
