Physics

Roundtable Talk 1 ~ Is it difficult to study physics at university? ~

What do you learn in college physics? Hear a discussion between faculty and students about college physics.

Overview

Sir Isaac Newton discovered the law of universal gravitation when he saw an apple fall from a tree. Kepler observed the stars and discovered laws of planetary motion. We study physics to understand nature and the laws that govern it.

Everything in nature is a field of study for physicists. These principles also affect other sciences.

The Department of Physics helps gifted students understand physics and use it in new ways. Problem-solving skills can be used in many areas of life.

Roundtable Talk 2 ~I don't know which college to choose: Science or Engineering?~

The College of Science and the College of Engineering both offer physics classes. What's the difference? Let's hear a discussion between faculty and students!

Education

The program includes many hours of lab classes. It aims to nurture individuals who can combine classroom knowledge with practical skills and demonstrate creativity in a variety of fields.

The most important subjects are:
Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Quantum Mechanics.

Research

The physics course teaches students about the basic principles of physics and how to apply them in their research.

Our research covers particle physics, cosmic ray physics, and condensed matter physics.

We work with other countries on research projects that help us learn more about the universe.

Student voice

The Department of Physics is a good place for students to feel close to their teachers and seniors. We have a science lounge. In the science lounge, fourth-year students teach first- through third-year students about physics. I hope students preparing for exams will know about this.
