As a research base for the world's most advanced research in the Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER), young researchers who are internationally active are invited to have the public seminar of “Laser Scanning Technology in Forest Measurement” for the international collaborative research and graduate students at the Forest Resources Division of the Institute of Mountain Science.
The invited visiting professor, Dr. Matti Vaaja, is an assistant professor (digital photogrammetry) at Aalto University and one of the members of the research team led by Prof. Dr. Juha Hyypp?, the most cited researcher in the field of laser scanning (surveying), the distinguished visiting professor at Shinshu University and the Directors of Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry at Finnish Geospatial Research Institute and the Centre of Excellence in Laser Scanning Research granted by Academy of Finland. Dr. Matti Vaaja is a young expert n 3D measuring technology and point cloud models, with excellent achievements in forest measurement based on airborne, UAV and mobile laser scanning technologies. He came to Japan at the end of September 2017, and has a public seminar of "Laser Scanning Technology and Applications" in English for about two hours on every Thursday afternoon. It is a tough seminar that can stimulate students to study. We welcome undergraduates and graduate students to attend this seminar. Please contact Prof. Masato Katoh who is in charge of acceptance.
