Affiliated Schools
Kindergarten
Our kindergarten wants its children to "dive into playing", and we place great importance on helping each child to actively pursue their own interests and immerse themselves in nature.
Nagano Elementary School
The philosophy of Nagano Elementary School, which adopted the Nagano Prefectural song "Shinano no Kuni" as its school anthem, is based on an integrated style of learning that began in the Taisho era (1912-1926) and was known as "Bringing Up Children from Within". We believe that teachers should be inquirers who learn together with their pupils and our motto is "Being Together".
Our classroom activities include raising animals and growing plants, and we try to make learning as hands-on as possible. Activities such as the swimming event at Tanihama Beach in Niigata have been a part of the school's life for over 100 years.
Nagano Junior High School
The school's philosophy is for children to become "one with others" as they learn. The Togakushi shoma, a flower which the school adopted as its emblem, is an essential part of the school's identity. The Togakushi withstands the snow and blooms gracefully.
We hope that both our teachers and their students will strive to emulate this spirited flower. One of the things that Fuzoku Nagano Junior High School values most is its choir. In our music festivals, the voice of the children singing in unison fills the gymnasium.
Matsumoto Elementary School
The school's goal is to create an atmosphere in which the pupils can be physically active, focused on their lessons and surrounded by friends. We want our children to find all their activities as exciting as their sumo tournament and to grow in body and mind to become well-balanced individuals.
Matsumoto Junior High School
Matsumoto Junior High School joined the UNESCO Associated Schools Network in 2011 and is committed to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Our children learn about regional products and traditions, and contribute to the local community, through activities like raking the leaves in the grounds of Matsumoto Castle or picking and selling plums. Our hope is that they will grow up to become resilient and broad-minded global citizens, independent, creative, and kind to others.
School for Special Needs Education
The school caters for children from grades 1 to 12 with learning difficulties. In order to achieve our goal of "supporting children to make the most of their abilities and live independently, now and in the future," the school encourages child-centered lifestyles with a focus on both life skills and working skills, combined with personalized learning. The school, the PTA and the faculty work together to run the after-school club (Genki Club) and other activities centered on cooperation with families and the local community.
