Associate Professor Fuyuki Ito of the Faculty of Education Science Education Group won the 15th Japanese Photochemistry Association Prize for Young Scientist at the Annual Meeting on Photochemistry 2015, held at Sugimoto Campus, Osaka City University from September 9 to 11, 2015.
This award is granted to those aged 38 and below who have made an outstanding achievement in the study of photochemistry. The title of the winning research is, “Photochemistry of molecular-assembly systems probed by the corporative fluorescence modulation.”
With molecules demonstrating fluorescence changes as molecular assembly-type cooperative optical responses as a probe, this research was praised for its development into materials research, from the initial process of molecular assembly formation and crystal nucleation to crystal growth and phase transition, and the fact that it developed into an academic discipline on the periphery of photochemical research.
