Professor Dr. Masahiro Yuki of the Faculty of Education Sports Science Education Group won the International Athletic Event Award for Excellence at Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Persons of Sports Merit Award Ceremony / International Athletic Event Award Ceremony, held at a hotel in Tokyo on July 17, 2015.

This award is granted by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to those individuals who have made particularly outstanding achievements at international sport and athletic events. Professor Yuki had already won sports awards from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on six occasions, including the Fiscal 2000 Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, making this his seventh such award.

He was granted this most recent award for the major contributions he made to the ongoing training of Shinshu University graduate Nao Kodaira (Aizawa hospital, at present), who won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships, an event organized by the International Skating Union.
