The School of Medicine Department of Otorhinolaryngology announces the Commencement of Genetic Testing using New Testing Technologies

A research group headed by Professor Shinichi Usami of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology has been conducting research on the genetic analysis of hearing impairments using the next generation of sequencers. This research has been carried out on a joint basis with Fisher Scientific Life Technologies Japan (Thermo Fisher Scientific K.K.).

A press conference was held in the School of Medicine on August 7, 2015, to announce that BML, Inc. will use genetic testing which employs the new testing technologies developed through this collaborative research project from August 10, 2015.

It is hoped that the use of this new form of testing will lead to an improvement in the rate of diagnosis in diagnostic tests for congenital hearing loss.
