Shinshu University has placed second in the annual rankings of the “Community Contribution of Universities in Japan 2021" by Nikkei Inc. The survey has covered 761 national/public/private universities and acquired responses from 514 of them. Shinshu Uni has been a higher ranking regular in it and came top last year.
This survey was conducted on the five subjects: "Organizations and Systems" to enhance regional contribution; "Students and Local Residents" which includes open lectures, community events, students’ job opportunities in the region, and relearning programs for the residents; "Collaboration with Local Industries and Government" for joint researches and university ventures; "University as a Working Place" to promote post-doctoral careers and work-life balance of female staffs; and newly added "for SDGs and against COVID-19."
Shinshu Uni came out on top in "Organizations and Systems" and "Local Industries and Government," and second in "Students and Local Residents" and "University as a Working Place." We will continue to boost programs and activities to contribute for further development of local communities.
