Nagano, Japan — Don't you think it's time for us to think about reducing car emissions? The car sharing service using software ecosystem by Hideaki Hata, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering (Electrical and Computer Engineering), has become headline news in the local newspaper (Shinano Mainichi) on January 9, 2022.
His research has explored sustainable software development and car sharing services using blockchain technology. In the new system, the users submit bids for driving car rights on the auction website by virtual currency (cryptocurrency), and the auction winner can receive a virtual key on the smart phone and drive the sharing car.
Dr. Hata has conducted the demonstration experiments of car sharing with 3 electric vehicles (EV) for teaching staff and administrators at NAIST (Nara Institute of Science and Technology) since 2020, and subsequently as he moved to Shinshu University, the car sharing system is under active consideration to start here FY 2022.
