Shindai Crystal Lab wins an Excellence Prize at the 'STI for SDGs' Award

The Shindai Crystal Lab (Director Katsuya Teshima, Research Initiative for Supra-Materials / Faculty of Engineering, Deputy Director Tatsuya Doi, Shinshu University Innovative Research and Liaison Organization) and Teshima, Hayashi, Yamada Laboratory (Department of Materials Chemistry, Engineering) of the Research Initiative for Supra-Materials, which take the lead in Shindai Crystal? pioneering Solutions to Global Water Challenges, won an Excellence Prize at the ‘STI for SDGs’ Award. The Award ceremony was held on November 5, 2022.
The "STI for SDGs" Award is part of the Japan Science and Technology Agency's (JST) Future Co-creation Promotion Program, which recognizes outstanding regional initiatives that use Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to solve social issues. The reasons of winning the Award are following.
(1) Establishment of low-cost and high-efficiency water purification systems based on unique technologies. (2) The effect on regional revitalization in Japan by increasing the added value of water. (3) Significant contributions in developing countries to the supply of safe water. (4) Development of specific services that contribute to solving global social issues including developing countries based on the advanced technologies possessed by the university. (5) Expected to contribute mainly to the achievement of SDGs Indicators of 6, 7 and 14. (6) Activities that do not significantly undermine the achievement of other SDGs targets.
Shinshu University will continue to promote the construction of an aqua ecosystem led by the Shindai Crystal Lab.
