Research exchange with Tunghai University, Taiwan

On August 9, 2024 at Matsumoto Campus, Shinshu University (SU) held a research exchange meeting with Tunghai University (TU) from Taiwan. SU concluded an inter-university MoU (academic exchange) with TU in 2023 based on the JTA (Japan-Taiwan Alliance) collaboration platform. The theme of the meeting was ‘Contribution of the University to the Healthy Longevity of the Local Community - through Collaboration with Local Businesses -’.
The meeting started with the introduction of SU by Vice-President Yasuto Hayashi (Enrollment Management), followed by a presentation on the activities of Center for Global Education and Collaboration by Lecturer Yu Sengoku. Then a research presentation on ‘Interval Walking’ was delivered by Professor Shizue Masuki (School of Medicine /Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research, Institute for Biomedical Sciences) and Mayuka Furihata (NPO JTRC), ‘Shinshu Health Innovation Meeting’ by Professor Teiji Kimura (School of Health Sciences), and ‘Research on supporting convalescents with intractable neurological disease (ALS)’ by Associate Professor Hiroko Takahashi (School of Health Sciences).
From TU, Professor Wen-Kao Hsiao gave a presentation on ‘Primary Care of Health and Prevention for the Elderly Promoted by the University and the Community’, followed by a presentation on ‘Research on Exercise Science to Promote Health’ by Professor Min-Huan Wu. Then the researchers made a discussion over the theme.
This time was the first research exchange meeting mainly arranged by Associate Professor Yu-San Chang (Department of Japanese Language and Culture, TU) and Asian Wise Co., Ltd President/Visiting Professor Zu-Hui Wang (International Exchange Division, Saku University Social Cooperation and Research Support Center).
This research exchange meeting will promote further international exchange between the universities.
