Shinshu University Participates in the Japan-Brazil Economic Forum

Shinshu University Vice President for International Affairs Shinichi Yonekura attended the Japan-Brazil Economic Forum.
The Forum was held on March 26, 2025 at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo and was organized by the Japan Business Federation, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the National Confederation of Industry of Brazil, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Brazilian guest of honor was President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the Japanese guest of honor was Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who confirmed the further strengthening of relations between Japan and Brazil on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Following the panel discussion on “Environment and Energy Strategy,” “Japan-Brazil Co-Creation for Sustainable Development,” and “Japan-Mercosur Economic Partnership,” the Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) signed between the two countries were introduced in the presence of the two leaders. The renewed agreement with the Federal University of Technology of Paraná, where Shinshu University has a satellite office, and the new agreement with the State University of Ponta Grossa were also unveiled.
Shinshu University will continue to collaborate with Brazilian institutions and contribute to building partnership and social development of the two countries through educational and research exchanges.
