1. What made you come train at Shinshu University School of Medicine and how did you find the School through your stay?
Japanese culture and work ethic have always fascinated me, ever since I was introduced to them by a friend I met during my year of study abroad. When this exchange program opportunity arose, thanks to the collaboration between Prof. Stocco (University of Trieste) and Prof. Tanaka (Shinshu University), it became immediately clear to me that I had to take part in it. Now, as I approach my departure, I am thrilled to say that this experience has truly exceeded my expectations.

2. Please describe your training at host department/lab.
My time at the Histology and Embryology department perfectly exemplifies the Japanese consideration for others. The harmonious balance between work and personal life here allowed me to fully immerse myself in this experience. I had the privilege of learning from some of the best researchers, acquiring both the fundamentals of laboratory work--where I initially began--and advanced techniques such as iPSCs. At the same time, I was fortunate to explore the beauty of Japan.

3. Please list what you have gained from your experiences through the training at Shinshu University and the stay in Matsumoto, Japan.
To all of them, and especially to Professor Yue, I owe my deepest gratitude and appreciation. Before coming to Japan, I would have never imagined research and laboratory work to suit me. However, thanks to her thoughtfulness and guidance, I now find myself seriously considering a career as a researcher.

4. How do you think you can apply those experiences to your future career?
I sincerely believe that this experience has broadened my view of life. Knowing different cultures is one of the best ways to open one's mind, and I am sure that all the people I met will remain with me forever.

5. Advice to those who are interested in studying at Shinshu University.
I would recommend this exchange experience at Shinshu University to anyone who thinks they'd like it. Do not be afraid of living abroad, especially if it's your first time: Japan is the perfect place to begin!
