Delegation from the University of Kelaniya visits Shinshu University

From May 20 through May 22, 2019, a delegation from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, including Prof. A. Jayamaha (Dean/ Faculty of Graduate Studies) visited Shinshu University.
The University of Kelaniya is located in Colombo, the biggest city in the country. The inter-university MOU between the two universities has been activated since April 19, 2018.
The University of Kelaniya is planning to establish a faculty or a department of textile science and technology in the future. Therefore, they came to Shinshu, which is the only national university in Japan that has a Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, in order to get some useful information.
On May 20, the delegation paid the board of Shinshu University a visit, including President Kunihiro Hamada, Vice-President Kiyoshi Tanaka, and Prof. Makoto Shimosaka, the Dean of the Faculty of Textile Science and Technology. Also, members of the Center for Global Education and Collaboration welcomed them. Through these meetings, they had a discussion on the possibilities of future cooperation, especially in the field of textile science and technology.
On May 21, they visited the Faculty of Textile Science and Technology in Ueda campus and observed individual activities of the faculty through a laboratories tour.
On the last day, the delegation and some professors of the Faulty of Economics and Law had a discussion on the procedure for student exchanges.
Shinshu and Kelaniya is going to continue to work together to enhance the collaboration in various ways.
