In November 2023, The NIKKEI released the "Survey on University Contributions to Local Communities", which covered 765 national, public, and private universities with responses from 518 of them. The survey was conducted in the fiscal year 2022 and aimed to examine how the university contributes to the local communities. Following top marks in every survey, Shinshu University is ranked second overall*, as it was in the previous survey in 2021.
The survey consists of four categories: "Organizations and Systems" evaluates the university’s organization and system; "Students and Local Residents, and Education Systems and Education for Upskilling" focuses on public lectures, community events, local employment for students, and programs for upskilling working adults; "Industries and Governments" considers collaborative research with local governments and businesses and the number of university startup companies; and "SDGs and Global" refers to efforts related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and internationalization.
SU ranks first in "Organizations and Systems" and "Industries and Governments", fourth in "Students and Local Residents", and fifth in "SDGs and Global”.
SU is committed to continuously promoting initiatives that enrich and positively impact local communities.
