1. What made you come train at Shinshu University School of Medicine and how did you find the School through your stay?
There are several reasons why I want to study at Shinshu University. Firstly, I heard that the city of Matsumoto where Shinshu University is located is renowned for its natural scenery. The area is beautiful with pleasant climate. So I wanted to come and see it. Secondly, I learned that Shinshu University and our school are international friendly schools. The medical department and affiliated hospital of Shinshu University are very excellent and have advanced medical technology. So I wanted to come here for study and to see the medical environment and level here. I learned that Shinshu University was from our school's official website and international exchange program. I felt this would be a very great project, so I participated in it.
2. Please describe your training at host department/lab.
During my internship in the cardiology department, every morning I would go to the meeting room to listen to the doctors report on each patient's condition. Then, every day I would follow different groups of doctors into the operating room to learn about surgeries. The doctors were very patient in explaining the principles and various processes of the surgeries to me, and they also told me about various heart diseases and treatment methods in cardiology, which was very beneficial to me.
3. Please list what you have gained from your experiences through the training at Shinshu University and the stay in Matsumoto, Japan.
1. My English communication skills have made significant progress and improvement.
2. I have come to understand the differences between Japanese culture and Chinese culture.
3. I observed many surgical procedures described in textbooks from here. I learned a lot about internal medicine surgeries, which was extremely beneficial to me.
4. I have made many excellent teachers and classmates, and have also made many friends. This has made me extremely happy.
5. The environment here is very beautiful and makes one feel extremely comfortable.
6. There is also a wide variety of delicious food here. The different dining customs in China give this food a unique and distinctive feeling for me.
4. How do you think you can apply those experiences to your future career?
I found that the medical environment in Japanese hospitals is extremely clean. Japanese doctors are very meticulous in their work, and they are knowledgeable and patient towards their patients. After I become a clinical doctor, I will learn from them, practice surgical techniques diligently, and do my best to acquire more relevant knowledge. In my work, I will pay more attention to controlling details. Only by doing the most basic things well can one become a qualified clinical doctor.
