Department of Biomolecular Innovation

We apply the results of advanced agronomic research derived from food materials and biological resources to the development of functional foods and drug discovery to prevent and treat cancer, lifestyle-related diseases, and dementia. With this biomolecular approach, we aim to disseminate our research results from the extremely long-lived region of Shinshu, Japan.

Neuroinflammation and Proteotoxicity: Understanding the biological functionality of natural bioactive compounds for therapeutic modulation of stress response signaling pathways important in several inflammatory pathologies specifically neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. This research stream focuses on the molecular mechanisms that underline abrogation of neuronal inflammation and proteotoxicity implicated in the development of neurodegenerative diseases in pre-clinical models.
