The Department of Biological Sciences for Intractable Neurological Diseases, Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBS), along with Professor Weidong Li of Bio-X Institutes, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, have been collaborating on research for synapse disease related to mental and nerve disorders causing synapse molecule abnormalities. This partnership between the Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER) of Shinshu University and Bio-X Institutes was signed on December 15th, 2016, and promotes international exchange activities.
In 2017, Professor Katsuhiko Tabuchi of the Department of Biological Sciences for Intractable Neurological Diseases and Professor Tatsuo Suzuki of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Shinshu University School of Medicine, took part in a Summer School program that has been organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University every year for the past 4 years. The program aims to educate students from all over the world. They had the chair of neuroscience “Brain Facts”, one of the seven themes offered to Bio-X Institutes internship students and other participants of the Summer School. The students listened attentively and actively asked questions; it was an excellent opportunity for students and lecturers to interact.
